Residential Services

If you’re a homeowner that has recently experienced a loss to your home, The Adjustment Firm can help. As a homeowner in Wisconsin, the last thing you have time for is to take the time to document your entire claim and inventory your entire home. You have much more important things to do, like working, taking care of your kids or enjoying the little bit of time you get to relax.

The Adjustment Firm has handled hundred of claims just like yours. This is what we do, every single day. Much like it is important to hire an accountant when dealing with your taxes, it is important to have someone that understands the claims process working on your behalf.

Some things to consider when navigating the claims process:

  • You must show the damage to your adjuster – while most insurance company adjusters are experienced and helpful, they don’t live in your house and they are visiting your home for the first time. Make sure that you always show the adjuster new things you notice that are damaged to your home. Don’t expect them to find everything.

  • If your kitchen or bathroom cant be used, you should move out – In the event that the damaged sustained makes it so you are unable to use the bathroom in your home or cook food and wash dishes in your kitchen, ask your insurance company to provide you a comparable place to live. Most Replacement cost policies provide this benefit. Your paying for it, use it if you need to.

  • PHOTOS, PHOTOS, PHOTOS! – The most important thing you can do when you have a loss is take a lot of photos. Not only of damage but of undamaged areas of your home as well. Old photos can also help you remember things that you had in your home in the event of a total loss. Social platforms you belong too can often help with this as well.

There is nothing more painful than losing items in your home that can not be replaced. Photos, family heirlooms, kids artwork, and so much more. We recommend that you work with someone that has been though this process in the past that can remove themselves from the emotional carnage that involves losing your home. We know first hand what can happen if you don’t protect yourself! Contact The Adjustment Firm for your free consultation.
